Started practice as Advocate in High Court, Nagpur in 1970. Elected as General Secretary of the Nagpur Bar Association in 1978. Was Honorary Lecturer, University College of Law, Nagpur during 1978-80. Was President of Nagpur Bar Association. Was Assistant Government Pleader, High Court, Nagpur between 1980-86. Elected on Nagpur University Senate from Law Graduates’ Constituency in 1982. Was member of the Maharashtra Bar Council. Elevated as a Judge, High Court of Judicature at Bombay in 1986. Elelcted as Member of Governing Council of Indian Law Institute, New Delhi from the Constituency of Judges of High Courts and Supreme Court in India in 1989. Was Member of Editorial Committee for Journal of Indian Law Institute, New Delhi. Was Member, Advisory Board, Centre for Corporate Research and Training, set up by the Institute of Company Secretaries of India, New Delhi. Was Member, Legal Education Committee, Bar Council of India. Elected for the fourth time as a Member of Governing Council, Indian Law Institute, New Delhi, from the Constituency of Judges of Supreme Court and High Courts. Appointed as Acting Chief Justice of High Court of Uttarakhand at Nainital on 09/11/2000. His Lordship was appointed as the Chief Justice of High Court of Uttarakhand on 06/12/2000 and held the office till 31/03/2003 before the demitting his office as Chief Justice.
